Obituary of Cathleen M. LaDelfa

Cathleen “Cathie” LaDelfa (Learn)

Henrietta: Sunday, March 16, 2025 at the age of 75 after living with Alzheimer’s disease for several years.

Cathie was born and raised in Mount Morris, New York, to Edna (Hawthorn) and Dr. George Emerson Learn. Growing up on Murray Hill with three brothers and three sisters, Cathie graduated from Mt. Morris High School in 1968. She earned her degree from Genesee Community College to follow in her parents’ footsteps of working as a healthcare professional. Cathie was a Registered Nurse working at several hospitals and nursing homes over the course of her career retiring from the Friendly Home in Pittsford. Cathie was kind and generous and loved spending time with her family. She greatly enjoyed nature including visits to ocean beachfronts as well as long walks or hikes. Growing up next to Letchworth State Park she often told stories of fond memories she had enjoying the park with her friends and siblings. Cathie loved to attend live music events. She would love to listen to rock and roll ranging from the Beatles and Rolling Stones to AC/DC and Metallica, often introducing the songs from those eras to her grandchildren. Cathie was also particularly fond of her dachshund dogs that she cared for later in life.

Cathie’s family would like to express gratitude to the healthcare workers at Heathwood Assisted Living and Memory Care in Penfield and Monroe Community Hospital for their care of Cathie in the last few years.

She is survived by her three sons, Jeff, Devon (Shanna) and Dan (BobbyJo); grandchildren, Sadie, Sophia, Sam and Ellie; sisters, Chris (Jim) McPherson and Janet (Frank) Babb; and many nieces and nephews. She is predeceased by her brothers, Emerson, Jim and Dick Learn; and her sister, Sallie Jasek.

A celebration of life will be held on Saturday June 28th beginning at the Mt Morris City Cemetery at 11am, then proceeding to Al Lorenz Park pavilion #3 (Murray Hill, Mt. Morris pond) for food and refreshments.

Please RSVP to jtladelfa@yahoo.com if you plan on attending.
