Obituary of Thomas R. Meyers

February 22, 2025, age 92.  Tom Meyers lived a life full of love, laughter, and just enough mischief to keep things interesting. A devoted husband of 57 years to his late wife, Janet, he was also a dedicated father to his children, Lora (Ken) Giunta and Steven (Joan) Meyers - and the most beloved "Poppa" to his grandchildren, Kyle (Sarah) and Kevin Giunta, Jenna (Deven) Meyers, Kit (Dan) McGuffie, and Stefanie (Paul) Chung along with his cherished great-grandchildren, Damon (6), Kira (3), Isla (3), Eli (3), and Anna (1). His family, extended family - and the many friends who were like family - were the center of his world.

A lifelong resident of Point Pleasant in Irondequoit, Tom was a proud graduate of Franklin High before serving his country in the U.S. Navy aboard the aircraft carrier USS Coral Sea. His career at RG&E kept him busy, but he always made time to lend a hand - whether with the Boy Scouts, Eastridge Lancer Band Parents for Music, Meals on Wheels, or any good cause that needed a willing volunteer.

Tom had a few simple joys in life: a good game of bocce, shared meals with friends, a perfectly made chocolate milkshake, his nightly Manhattan (which may be the secret to his 92 years!) and the companionship of a rescue dog. He was the life of every party, especially his legendary Memorial Day and Christmas gatherings. He loved attending Rochester Red Wings games and never missed the chance to watch his Buffalo Bills, always holding onto the eternal optimism that “there’s always next season.”

He lived well, he loved deeply, and he left behind a lifetime of stories and laughter. He will be dearly missed - but never forgotten.

Friends are invited to his Memorial Service 4:30 PM on Saturday, March 1, at Willard H. Scott Funeral Home, 12 South Ave., Webster. Interment will take place later in Irondequoit Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, please donate to Lollypop Farm, because if there was one thing Tom loved almost as much as his family, it was giving a second chance to a four-legged friend.
