Obituary of Ronald Earl Eckler

Webster: November 24, 2017 at age 91, passed peacefully at home.  Predeceased by Harriet, his wife of 56 years. Survived by his children, David (Carol), Jim (B), Barbara (Bo) and Linda Sue (Adam); grandchildren, Kim Lord (Ryan), Jeff (Sheena), Jonathan, Bryan, Hannah Aichelman and Jay Aichelman; as well as 4 great-grandchildren.

    Ron graduated from the University of Rochester with a BA in Economics in 1950, and received his Master’s degree in Education in 1952 from the same institution. He taught mathematics in the Hilton and Webster Central School districts for 30 years. Ron was the president of the Webster Teacher’s Association, and volunteered many hours with community organizations including the Webster and Ontario Presbyterian Churches.  After retiring from teaching in 1986, he began apple farming in Wayne County.

    Ron enjoyed many years with friends and family at their lodge in the Algonquin Highlands, Ontario, Canada.  Lifetime St. Louis Cardinal Baseball fan. Coached Hilton Crimson Cadets to the Class A Basketball Championship in 1961. Veteran of the United States Navy. 

    Friends are invited to his Memorial Service, 11:00 am Tuesday, November 28 at Webster Presbyterian Church, 550 Webster Road, Webster, NY.  Gifts in his memory may be directed to Webster Presbyterian Church or the First Presbyterian Church of Ontario Center.
