Obituary of Peter G. Klem, Jr.

Webster: Thursday, April 20, 2017, age 93. Predeceased by his wife, Doris; daughters, Mary Purcell and Sr. Carol Klem, SSJ; daughter-in-law, Lorraine Brown Klem. He leaves his children, Peter G. Klem III (Judy), Jeanne M. Klem-Goonan, Thomas J. Klem; 8 grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; brother, Rev. Robert J. Klem; sister, Shirley Anselmo. Born on December 6, 1923 to Peter G. Klem, Sr. and Madeline M. Klem. He graduated from Webster Central School. Pete sold popcorn at various events to pay for college. He enlisted in ROTC at Niagara University and was requested by the Navy to transfer to Hobart where the Navy paid for his last year of schooling. In June of 1944 he graduated and the Navy eventually transferred him to Chicago, Ill where he would meet his wife Doris E. Schons. They were married on October 13, 1945 in Webster. Pete had a very successful career working for himself as a CPA. This allowed both he and his wife to travel the world. He joined several organizations. When he did he was always very active. He had over 60 years in the Webster Fire Dept. holding offices of President and served on Board of Directors. He was one of the first commissioners of the newly formed North East Joint Fire District in 2006. He helped found the Webster Area Firemens Exempts in the late 60's and is a Past President. Additionally, he was a leading member of Webster Kiwanis, BPOElks, American Legion and VFW. He was appointed to the Webster Planning Board and served on this board for many years. He is also Past President of the Webster Chamber of Commerce. Finally, he Ushered at Holy Trinity Church almost all of his adult life. He loved to be with friends and family especially for celebrations and parties. He was always ready for a good time and loved to dance and sing whenever the opportunity arose Memorial Mass and Celebration of his Life will be held July of 2017.
